Join the Prometheus Circle

a friends group supporting the next phase of MARS' growth

The Prometheus Circle recognizes those who contribute $1000 or more annually to support operations and the development of our residency programs. In doing so, you play an integral role in building our creative community while supporting the work of visiting and local artists.

Thanks to Prometheus Circle donors, Manship Artists Residency was able to remain open throughout the pandemic and to continue to safely serve artists, one artist or artist couple at a time. Beyond operating expenses, Prometheus Circle members contributions have allowed Manship Artists Residency to pursue some special projects and programs in 2021 and 2022, including:

• Several restoration projects funded in part with a matching $20K Mass Cultural Council Capital Facilities Grant

  • Recreate the Garden Gazebo,

  • Repair the Studio Barn Cupola,

  • Renovate the charming studio cottage adjacent to the stone circle, and

  • Remove a 1980s outbuilding to restore a stunning viewshed of Canney’s Quarry.

• Developing and installing an outdoor sculpture exhibition featuring site-specific work focused on the theme of light and inspired by the Manship Artists Residency’s initiative to restore firefly habitats on the property, just as Paul Manship had done when he summered here.

• Expanding the residency’s reach and accessibility in a more equitable manner while collaborating with organizations that serve BI-POC artists.
