Steve Lacey is a performing, teaching and recording musician based in Gloucester, MA. Primarily a finger-style jazz guitarist, he performs and records with clarinets, recorders, keyboards and organ pedalboard as well.
Performing in jazz groups regularly around the north shore, Steve also plays in the Luna Trio, a band of original music, which just released its first self-titled album in Feb. 2025. In this trio, Steve plays organ pedalboard simultaneously with guitar and sometimes clarinet, which has been the big focus for the last five years.
His discography includes To the Ocean (2020), Heart Sounds (2023), When Love Comes Your Way (2025) and To the Woods (2025). This catalogue explores jazz standards, original music, and improvisational ambient music, in solo settings and in collaboration with various other musicians.
His latest work, To The Woods is a new multi-instrumental approach, using all his instruments in various combinations.
A graduate of City College of New York (M.M. Jazz Studies, 2019) and Salem State University (B.A. Music, 2012), Steve joined the Salem State faculty in 2023 and has been teaching privately for 15+ years.
