Fausto Palma: Live at Manship

Join us for an evening with Fausto Palma, live at the Manship Artists Residency. For this intimate solo concert at the Manship estate, Palma will be playing the oud, an 11-string Turkish guitar, with original material influenced by Northern Africa and the Middle East. About Fausto:

Fausto Palma (b. 1976) is an interpreter of guitar, sarangi (a 39-string violin from North India), oud (11-string Turkish guitar) and is a composer and arranger. The styles that he uses range from Indian classical music to Middle Eastern folk as well as psychedelic rock, jazz and blues. He began his musical studies at ENA in Havana, Cuba in 1997 followed by the Conservatory of Music in Mexico City and in Egypt at The Opera of Cairo. Palma completed his formal studies at the Rotterdam Conservatory in Holland from 2000 – 2004 and in New Delhi, India, with teachers such as Ustad Fariduddin Dagar, Hari Prassad Chaurassia, Nirmalia Dey, Ustad Asif Ali Khan from 2004 – 2005. He has been the creator of multiple musical projects such as Assalam, Zikam, Strictly Personal, and The Fausto Palma Ensemble as well as worked on award winning art films and television series such as Babel by Alejandro González Iñárritu and several films by Pedro Gonzales Rubio. Since 2005, his band Petra has produced and recorded more than 10 albums, playing in international festivals and concert halls throughout Mexico. He is currently working on a trilogy of concept albums to be released in 2026.
